A Mobile home search reveals the old and the new.  To enjoy the lifestyle of the older, mature neighborhoods, home buyers tour major historic districts, including Old Dauphin Way, Oakleigh Garden, and Ashland Place, and Midtown.  Mobile Alabama homes for sale along the rivers on the Mobile Bay offer residents immediate access to boating and fishing.

A variety of new home developments offer affordable single-family homes in Mobile, mostly ranging from the mid $100,000 to the upper $200,000 range.  Additionally, the Mobile real estate market includes small, older homes priced under $100,000.  The median sales price in 2012 is approximately $125,000.

Mobile maintains 45 beautiful parks and wonderful attractions including the Mobile Botanical Gardens, the Bellingrath Gardens and Home, and the 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center. As the county seat of Mobile County, the city is a hub for many area communities.  From Chickasaw in the north to Dauphin Island on the Gulf Coast, and Saraland, Satsuma, and Semmes closer to the metropolitan area - Mobile County offers something for everyone.

As a cultural center, the city offers a symphony orchestra, professional opera and ballet, Mobile Theatre Guild, many art museums, in addition to an extensive schedule of community events.  Mystic societies organize vibrant Carnival Celebrations during the season before Ash Wednesday.

Native American, Spanish, French, African, and British influences combine in a brilliant cultural heritage for the colorful Mobile area.  Mobile is named after the Native American Mobilian tribe that occupied the area in 1702 when French colonists arrived.  Called the City of Six Flags, area history is told in local museums and buildings, stories about the Battle of Mobile Bay and the first Catholic parish on the Gulf Coast.  The National African American Archives and Museum and the University of South Alabama Archives display extensive historical memorabilia.

Beginning as a trading center, the Port of Mobile has played a key economic role in the area’s development.  Accessible through river systems and the Gulf of Mexico, the early community became a large exporter of cotton.  It became a military outpost known for shipbuilding and manufacturing.  Stainless steel, paper, chemicals, healthcare, and other important economic drivers continue to sustain the economy today.

Students living in the city are served by the Mobile County Public School System and numerous private and parochial schools.  Colleges and universities include the University of South Alabama, the University of Mobile, Spring Phil College, Faulkner University, and Bishop State Community College.

Mobile is accessible via the Mobile Regional Airport, railroads, and roadways including Interstates 10, 65, and 165.
