Fairhope Alabama to House Aviation Training Center

Officials gathered last week to announce plans for a new aviation training center.  Training will take place in a brand-new 15,000-square-foot Fairhope real estate development located at the H.L. “Sonny” Callahan Airport.  The facility will train young people for careers in the aviation industry, a growing economic sector tucked into communities in the Mobile real estate market such as Fairhope.

Fairhope AL homesResidents of Fairhope homes and Baldwin County will greatly benefit as educational institutions partner with businesses and industry to help students gain the skills required by employers.  The Fairhope aviation training center will provide state-of-the-art career training in high-paying fields and in high-demand fields.  Graduates will be able to enter the workforce in the aerospace industry, a growing industry throughout the Mobile and Gulf Coast areas.

Educators acknowledge the need to shadow economic development in Baldwin County.  In the making for five years, the $2.5 million training center is a partnership between Faulkner State Community College, Enterprise State, Fairhope Airport Authority, and the Baldwin County Board of Education.  Courses will be offered as dual enrollment for high school juniors and seniors.  The program will be open for preparatory and college students as well as adults attending Faulkner State or Enterprise.

Baldwin County educators are enthusiastic to broaden the scope of education.  Airframe and power-plant mechanics are skill sets utilized by aircraft maintenance technicians called A&Ps.  Planned courses include industrial maintenance, welding, and other technical aviation skills.

Fairhope Airport Authority will build the facility along Baldwin County Highway 32 on the west side of the airport.  The building will then be leased to the Baldwin County School Board.  It will include three 5000-square-foot classrooms with plenty of room for expansion in the future.
